OVERVIEW:

The Retail Distribution Driver (RDD) partners with the home office Operations team, Distribution center, and store teams to transport stock safely, effectively, and efficiently between Gardener's Supply locations and to GSC customers, all while providing exceptional customer service. The safety of our employees and customers is a top priority. As such, the RDD must comply with all state, federal and company guidelines. The RDD impacts the efficacy and profitability of the company by driving productivity efforts, ensuring excellent communication with facility receiving teams and pioneering new and improved delivery protocols that ensure scalability as GSC grows.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes personal accountability for representing the values and company appropriately in all situations (service, dress code, interpersonal skills).
  • Promotes a positive work environment through an inclusive and respectful approach.
  • Celebrates and encourages diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Complete inter-store product transfers while operating non-CDL trucks.
  • Primary Driver of GSC's Box truck transporting intra company product and supply transfers between GSC distribution centers, home office, store locations and manufacturing facilities.
  • Additionally, the RDD is responsible for direct-to-consumer deliveries as scheduled including large box truck deliveries and local bulk mulch and soil deliveries.
  • In partnership Retail Operations manages delivery schedules to optimize product movement throughout the supply chain.
  • Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally when delivering to residential, commercial, and internal locations.
  • Completes daily vehicle inspections, partnering with management to resolve vehicle performance and safety issues.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with operational partners at all locations to ensure adequate labor is available to assist with loading/unloading.
  • Responsible for direct-to-consumer deliveries as scheduled.
  • Responsible for safely and effectively loading and unloading products at all locations with support from AGR co-workers when appropriate.
  • Remains up to date and compliant with all federal and state regulations related to inter and intrastate commercial vehicle operations.
  • Completes and submits mileage and fuel logs in a timely manner.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years' experience driving a commercial vehicle.
  • Acquire and maintain current Commercial Operator License including medical card.
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check required.
  • Maintain training, appropriate certification, and safely operate all company equipment including but not limited to Forklift, Skid Steer, Wheel Loaders, electric & manual pallet jacks, golf carts.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and vehicles for work purposes.
  • Able to use GPS devices to navigate routes to delivery locations.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Compliance with all road and transport rules
  • Performs all duties within the confines of the law.
  • Ability to drive safely, irrespective of the weather and time of day.
  • Ability to stay organized, focused and calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Internet search engine and email.
  • Works a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Seasonal overtime required.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical activity including lifting large and bulky material.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack safely including pushing and pulling heavy loads.
  • Adhere to all company policies as outlined.
