Introduction
Our client, the Steel Penny Café, is looking for a General Manager (GM) for their café/restaurant in Hatboro, PA. This position will oversee and manage the entire café/restaurant operation. The GM ensures the strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, creating and maintaining budgets, developing and implementing marketing strategies, and managing the employees. The qualified candidate will also manage the operational business such as recruiting and hiring staff, training, overseeing food quality, developing menus, and greeting and serving restaurant guests.
This position requires an adept leader with a strong, forward-thinking business mind and a knack for organization and collaboration.

- Develop a strategic plan to ensure the growth of the whole operation.
- Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees to achieve objectives for sales, profitability, and market share.
- Estimate consumption, forecast requirements, and maintain the necessary inventory.
- Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and implementing innovative changes.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy facility by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures.
- Develop and implement marketing, advertising, and public and community programs to attract patrons.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships.
- Implement innovative strategies to improve productivity and sales.
This Position will be focused on:
Business Builder – You will be building on the success already achieved by the café/restaurant. The focus will be to think bigger, be visionary and innovative, understand what needs to be implemented, and be an instrumental part of the next stage in their growth.
Daily Operations Guru – You will be managing the day-to-day operation and ensuring all the pieces of the foundation (processes, procedures, etc.) are in place for the next stage of growth.
The People Whisperer – You will be the people leader as well. Assessing the staff, understanding their growth potential, and motivating them. You will have the opportunity to work with some energetic and passionate people and all grow together.

The Must-Haves

- An inquisitive and curious leader able to understand the restaurant business, proactively identify areas of improvement, and work with all parties to execute any improvement plans.

- A proactive and talented communicator willing to ask tough questions and listen to customer feedback and complaints to better understand how things can be improved.
- The ability to juggle competing priorities and be flexible to changing priorities and demands on your time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management or related field.
- Proven success in customer service management.
- Strong knowledge of front and back-of-house operations including food, beverages, staff supervision, inventory, and food safety.
- Strong understanding of cost and labor systems that lead to restaurant profitability.
- Previous experience with Toast or other restaurant management software.
The Nice To Haves
- Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans.
- Extensive food and wine knowledge.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Adobe and other productivity software helpful
