Bakery Attendants at Ace Hotel Brooklyn are responsible for serving and ringing/ checking out our guests and accommodating those needs and orders; Preparing any coffee beverages for service in the dining room and the bakery counter. Serving the guests quickly and efficiently with complete knowledge of the bakery menu. Understanding the basics of operating and handling all coffee machinery and proper care and cleaning for all machines. Maintaining station in a clean and orderly manner throughout the shift and upholding Department of Health standards at all times.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESQualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned
- Work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Ace Hotel.
- Warmly greet and acknowledge guests upon arrival and/or while moving through the station and restaurant.
- Remain fully knowledgeable of all menu offerings, acceptable modifications, allergy protocols, and any other information needed to maintain guest satisfaction and safety
- Record orders into the POS accurately and complete guests orders correctly.
- Ensure guests have appropriate utensils and all orders are properly packaged.
- Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu and be able to answer guest questions about allergies, ingredients, and preparations
- Recognize, engage, and learn the names and preferences of regular guests
- Work with fellow employees and management, in a friendly and communicative manner, to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant
- Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and/or room charges, and make change upholding Ace Hotel, PCI, and cash handling procedures
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and any scheduled employee meetings
- Responsible for all areas of the bakery counter checklist on a daily basis
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, water stations, and creamer stations.
- Adhere to Ace Hotel Covid guidelines
- Stock service areas with necessary product and service tools (i.e. lids, sugar, creamers, ice, glassware, silverware, napkins, straws, etc.) as needed
- Break down the station at the end of the shift including the pastry case, water and creamer stations, as well as cleaning all work areas.
- Report all equipment problems, damage, and dining room maintenance issues to managers
- Utilize employee entrance and back of house elevators during working hours
- Be knowledgeable of property facilities, services, hours of operation, in-house events, and promote property outlets to better assist guests
- Break down the station at the end of the shift including the proper cleaning for the espresso machine. Keeping the lowboy tidy, stocked, and clean for the next shift.
- Batch and prep cold brew for service the following morning for the dining room, room service, and the counter.
- Unbox all coffee orders that are received on a bi-weekly basis.
- Complete weekly cleanings for all coffee urns and milk pitchers
- Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information
- Perform additional duties as requested by department managers and supervisors.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1 year previous experience working in the restaurant industry and a similar-sized restaurant. Additional restaurant experience (barista, busser, etc.) preferred. Additional certifications (ServSafe, TiPS, etc.) preferred.

The typical environment is a bar atmosphere with ambient room temperatures, ambient lighting, and common bar equipment.
