RESPIRATORY CARE SPECIALIST I
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Care Specialist I performs inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Care services. This includes: accurately performing arterial blood gas puncture and analysis; accurately performing all cardiopulmonary related diagnostic procedures; performing RT specific in-service training to nursing staff; implementing and monitoring critical care devices such as ventilator and non-invasive ventilation and completing Tobacco Cessation interventions and patient education as assigned.
Licensure and Certification:
Current CA RCP licens
Current BLS provider card
Current PALS provider card
Education:
AS degree in Respiratory Therapy
Experience:
Three years of clinical respiratory experience, preferred.
New grads will be considered.
Knowledge and Skills:
Competent in use of all respiratory therapy modalities
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Strong time management skills
Problem solving skills
Basic computer skills
Physical Demands - Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.

Job Summary:
The Respiratory Care Specialist II performs all respiratory therapy core modalities as well as providing back up for the Cardiopulmonary Tech II in the Pulmonary lab area. This includes: accurately performing arterial blood gas puncture and analysis; accurately performing all cardiopulmonary related diagnostic procedures; monitoring and educating Respiratory Therapy staff regarding ABG related competency; performing EKG’s; assisting physicians with inpatient and outpatient bronchoscopies and completing Tobacco Cessation interventions and patient education as assigned.
