(Justice Reinvestment Program)
Friendly House, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency located in Phoenix, Arizona whose primary function is to provide a variety of educational and social service programming aimed at addressing the needs of low-income individuals and families, vulnerable populations and diverse communities. Additionally, Friendly House operates a charter school, Academia del Pueblo, with the mission to provide an academic environment which promotes a culture of high expectations to students from diverse cultures. Friendly House was organized in 1920 as the Phoenix Americanization Committee by a group of Phoenix citizens with the assistance of the United States Department of Education. In our 100-year history, the work of Friendly House has resulted in building resilient communities that are helping to spur economic development, stabilize neighborhoods and revitalize our city.
Position Summary
This position assists residents by providing them with resources at no-cost to them with the goal of helping them become self-sufficient. Individuals may receive assistance online and over the phone and will have direct contact with the Resource Navigators. Resource Navigators can assist individuals and families with a wide range of needs, including but not limited to: Assist low-income individuals and families by providing a range of supportive services; helping obtain basic needs such as food boxes and hygiene items; Completing AHCCCS and other state services applications such as SNAP benefits and childcare subsidies. Connecting to shelter services; educational and employment resources as well as rental and utility assistance
Position Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- Associate degree and at least 2 years of experience in social service programs or case management in an office or social service setting.
- Intermediate computer proficiency using Microsoft Word.
- This position must be eligible to pass a fingerprint clearance card (IVP) and background check requirements.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) or other foreign language helpful.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, social services or related field.
- At least 1 year experience determining eligibility for social services within a federally funded program.
- Providing social service information and referrals/resources; Developing case plans in a case management setting; Completing case note documentation.
- Providing customer service to a diverse population.
Responsibilities:
- Design an Action Plan with each program-eligible household and provide relevant resource referrals to promote self-sufficiency.
- Complete or collect all required program documentation with accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Attend relevant community events to support the agency programs; including evening and weekend events or meetings as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant public and private authorities and service providers.
- Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, as identified and approved by supervisors.
- Travel throughout service area as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
