POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the day to day oversight, supervision, guidance and mentoring, and scheduling of the residential shelter youth care staff under the direction of the Program Manager and in collaboration with the Residential Supervisor.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provides oversight under the direction of the Program Director of day-to-day operations and activities of direct care staff.
- Ensures that direct care staff are utilizing the Youth Development System (YDS) in their interactions with the youth and helps train/guide staff in appropriate interactions per YDS.
- Assists the Program Director in maintaining a culture of cleanliness amongst direct care staff and youth by regularly following up on cleaning and chores to ensure completion.
- Maintains and demonstrates a working knowledge of QA Standards and assists with promoting a culture of Quality Improvement at the shelter.
- Monitors reports, forms and admission packets generated by direct care staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and that policy and procedure is being followed appropriately.
- Schedules under the direction of, and in consultation with the Program Director, direct care staff to ensure all shifts are covered.
- Assures that all direct care staff are following policies and procedures of YFA.
- Provides oral medications in accordance with established YFA and shelter policies and procedures. Along with ensuring training of YDS staff and proper dispensing of medication to clients according to the written prescription and policies and procedures of YFA.
- Assists in the preparation of 90 day and annual performance evaluations of youth care staff in collaboration with Program Director.
- Achieve and maintain National Youth Care Certification.
- In accordance with established policy, procedure and site program design assigns daily responsibilities to youth care staff.
- Ensures all shift duties are completed in a proper and timely manner, bringing any related issues to the attention of the Program Director.
- Ensures through supervision of youth care staff or directly, as needed, that the facilities and property are clean and safe at all times.
- Responsible to ensure in accordance with established shelter and YFA policies and procedures that transportation of residents (if needed) is provided.
- Oversee safety coordination for the facility.
- Under the direction of, and in collaboration with the Program Director, directly supervises Youth Care Specialists as needed to ensure full staffing pattern on all shelter shifts. Will be prepared to directly work varying shifts on any day of the week to insure the same.
- Fully understands and follows all policy and procedures of the agency.
- In accordance with direct supervisor and in collaboration with the Program Director, coordinates and may train direct care staff ensuring all training requirements including new employee site orientation are met.
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED:
Education & Experience: High School Diploma (or equivalent) required and 3-4+ years of direct work experience with adolescents. Associate degree (preferred), 2+ years of direct work experience with adolescents, and 1+ years in a residential setting (preferred). Florida driver's license and clean DMV record required.
Physical Requirements: Requires a high degree of physical activity including the ability to run, jump, bend, stand for significant time periods (2+ hours), and lift and carry up to 50+ pounds.
