Residential Life Skills Instructor (Residential Counselor/ Direct Support Professional)
Work Location: Hanover/Marshfield/Rockland/Scituate/Plymouth
Various shifts available including afternoons, evenings & weekends.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with the Residential Coordinator, teachers and other staff as appropriate to ensure consistent structure
- Follows behavior plans of students, keeping in mind goals and objectives
- Maintains documentation on students’ performance level, goals and objectives
- Attends students’ IEP and progress review meetings
- When appropriate, communicates with teachers regarding behavior and health issues/concerns
- Assists the residents with their medical needs including medication administration
- Assumes responsibility for the health and safety of residents
- Transports residents, as needed, to community activities
- Manages incidental expenses
- Communicates progress of residents both in writing and verbally to appropriate people, assuring that information on residents is kept confidential
- Documents significant activities and incidents of residents and follows up as appropriate and necessary
- Periodically conducts fire drills
- Works with students on ADL (Activities of Daily Living) skills to include hygiene, toileting skills, domestic skills, community skills, social, behavioral and recreational skills, and money management
- Intervenes physically in behaviorally aggressive situations using CPI techniques
- Assists in complying with state licensing requirements

- Regular attendance and promptly reporting to work at the beginning of the scheduled shift are essential functions of this position
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
A valid driver’s license
Certifications: Receive initial certification within 60 days of hire and re-certification as appropriate in the following:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Safety Care
- First Aid
- Medication Administration (if working in a house unit)

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
