Job description
Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services, a trauma-informed psychiatric residential treatment Facility located in Jarratt, Virginia, seeks positive role models to work directly with children and young adults ages 11 to 21. The Residential Counselor is responsible for role-modeling healthy behavior and teaching life skills while implementing trauma-informed treatment practices. This is a full-time position.
Qualified applicants must possess the availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Flexibility is a must. A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other Human Services field is preferred, a High School Diploma/GED is required. Starting pay ranges from $15.00/hr. to $17.00/hr. depending upon experience and credentials. $1.00/hr. Shift Differential is paid for week-day evening shift. $1.50/hr. Shift Differential is paid for first and second shifts on Saturday and Sunday. JFBHS also pays time and a half overtime for any hours worked over forty in a workweek.
A $1,000.00 Retention Bonus is paid after 12 months of full-time employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate documentation of all client contact and activity logs. Provide advocacy, problem solving, and crisis intervention as needed. Required Skills:
·Knowledge of human behavior and mental health principles.
·Knowledge of developmental stages from infancy through college student.
·Ability to work with individuals, families, and groups in a productive manner.
·Ability to work cooperatively with others including supervisors, co-workers, and clients.
·Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as critical thinking skills.
