SalaryFull-time Residential Counselors provide Direct Support to adults with intellectual disabilities in a group home setting.
Examples of Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Instructs and assists residents in basic independent living skills such as but not limited to; hygiene, self care, housekeeping, laundry, safety, nutrition, social interaction, behavior, and communication.
2. Leads and assists residents in social and leisure activities within the home and in the community.
3. Provides transportation for residents in a company vehicle.
4. Provides support for medical needs such as appointments, dispensing of medication, and documentation of medication.
5. Physically assists residents as needed.
6. Maintains progress notes, logs, and various forms of documentation as directed. Effectively communicates notes and behavior to co-workers and supervisors.
7. Implementation and monitoring of Individual Service Plans in collaboration with residents, supervisors, co-workers, case management, family, and other service providers.
8. Professionally represents the company with family members, case management, licensure, and the community at large.
Full-time candidates are preferred to have similar experience, however, it may not be required of applicants that display quality characteristics suitable for the position. Experience supporting individuals with developmental disability is a definite plus. There is a minimum education requirement of a high school diploma or GED for full-time positions. Candidates will need to hold a valid and unrestricted driver's license and will be subject to regulatory requirements, including background checks, if selected for a position.
Candidates must be able to work a variable schedule consisting of evenings, overnights, Holidays, and rotating weekends. Evening shifts typically run from 12pm-10pm. Overnight shifts typically run from 10pm-8am and will be required in this position. This position is for primarily overnight shifts of four to five overnight shifts a week. Extra compensation is given for completed Holiday shifts, a requirement for the position.

Requirements include the following:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Availability to work a variable schedule.
Availability to work overnights and Holidays.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
