SalaryJob Description – Residential Counselor
Objective: To ensure that a high level of service is provided to all clients. To actively contribute to the development, of clients and to promote a safe, well maintained and harmonious environment at the site level.
Requirements: This is a full time hourly position requiring a minimum of an AA degree in a related field, or a high school diploma/ equivalent at least 3 years’ experience of providing direct care to at risk youth, and valid driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- Know the whereabouts of clients at all times
- Counsel clients in the presentation of inappropriate behavior
- Enforce discipline of clients when necessary
- Maintain order and control among clients in the facility
- Teach and monitor acquisition of life skills
- Supervise clients in laundry procedure, wake-up process, bedtime process, and all other activities
- Supervise and counsel clients concerning issues of personal hygiene
- Supervise client on the facilities' procedure for fire drills
- Supervise client during recreational activities
- Provide first aid for minor external injuries
- Perform client check-ins of their personal belongings upon return from visits, field trips, and other activities outside of the facility
- Enforce and maintain the daily routing of the facility
- Maintain operation of facility equipment, supplies, and furniture
- Maintain awareness of the use and possession of facility keys
- Document client behavior, facility environment, and communication of staff
- Communicate verbally and in writing to facility staff
- Assess and report client’s needs based on clinical team/treatment plan
- Any other duties deemed necessary by the Residential Supervisor
Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $15.50 - $20.00/hour.
