PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of the Camp Counselor position here at Camp Tekakwitha is to foster an environment where a group of same aged individuals grow in faith, independence, and community. The Camp Counselor will serve as both a cabin counselor and facilitate day to day programs/activities. The ideal candidate is someone who loves kids and is willing to work with any age bracket. The role of the Camp Counselor is exhausting both mentally and physically. The ideal candidate will have the persistence of reliance, strong communication skills, and compassionate patience. It is imperative this individual understand the mission/vision of both the Diocese of Green Bay and Camp Tekakwitha. The ideal candidate is one who has a desire to serve the campers, staff, and community deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.
As a member of the Camp Tekakwitha Summer Staff, this individual is expected to be a role model and set a standard of excellence for the campers, LQ’s, explorers, and counselors in training. While employed at Camp Tekakwitha, this individual must follow the most basic doctrine of the Catholic Church to align with the mission/vision of the Diocese of Green Bay. Ideal candidates will be an example as a Missionary Disciple with a servant heart.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Applicant must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be first aid/CPR certified (or willing to be trained)
- Lifeguard certification (or willing to be trained) preferred
- Understanding of the mission/vision of Camp Tekakwitha
- Understanding of the Catholic Church, its teachings and practices
- Applicant must have experience working with kids – this can include babysitting, volunteering, etc.
- Demonstrate eager ability to learn, grow, and receive both positive and critical feedback
- Basic knowledge of conflict resolution and problem solving
- Must be a proficient listener and communicator with people from all walks of life
- Desire to serve as a missionary disciple for the Diocese of Green Bay
- Collaborative decision-making skills and conflict management
- Ability to work well with people of all backgrounds and all ages
- Strong relational ability to serve as a member of a team, work independently, lead small groups, and work one on one with individuals
