RESIDENT SERVICES ASSISTANT
THIS IS A PRN (AS NEEDED) POSITION
Shift: All Shifts
Department: Personal Care Facility
JOB RELATIONSHIP:
Supervised By: Director

WORK SCHEDULES:
All positions at Baptist Village, Inc. include holidays and weekends as they fall within your schedule. Additional worked hours may be needed as workload demands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in the clinical specialty and/or training preferred
  • Currently, have or acquire First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Available to work holidays and weekends as scheduling requires
  • Good physical health condition and pass a physical examination

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

  • Work can be of heavy demand, standing and walking 90% of the shift
  • Ability to walk continuously for a minimum of 1 hour frequently
  • Ability to push as much as 200 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted occasionally
  • Ability to lift greater than 50 pounds with additional assistance occasionally
  • Ability to squat and bend throughout the shift routinely
  • Ability to assist in resident transfers
  • Manual Dexterity when handling equipment and supplies
  • Visual and hearing acuity to properly communicate with residents, family members, and staff
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or corrosive chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is inside (may be required to go outside occasionally).
As required by OSHA an exposure evaluation has been done based upon a reasonably anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of employee duties. Based on the evaluation RSAs have a Medium Risk for exposure.
APPEARANCE AND DRESS:
The dress is a designated uniform. See APPEARANCE AND WORK ATTIRE POLICY FOR UNIFORMED ASSOCIATES Policy.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS:
Telephone, fax machine, computer, copier, and other equipment as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Assist and provide oversight with residents’ daily living activities: report changes in resident conditions to management, remind and supervise residents with self-administration of medications, support resident in making a smooth transition into facility.
  • Provide and lead activities, including physical exercise or other designated activities under the direction of the Director or other designated person. Provide input relative to the needs, interest, and abilities of residents.
  • Provide daily dietary support to residents as requested by Director in the provision of three well-balanced meals and snacks; including, but not limited to preparation, cooking, delivery, and clean-up.
  • Provide for general upkeep of facility, office and resident rooms including, but not limited to making resident beds, dusting, spot clean walls as needed, baseboards, windows, fixtures, clean floors by vacuuming, shampooing, mopping, clean and disinfect commodes, sinks and showers, restock light bulbs, soap and toilet paper as needed, wash, dry, fold/iron residents personal laundry, remove trash as scheduled, maintain current knowledge and understanding of proper use of chemicals, tools, and equipment associated with job related tasks.
  • Provides support by accurate record keeping, answering phones, participating in care planning for residents, giving and taking a report for each shift.
  • Represents Baptist Village Retirement Communities by practicing effective communication with residents, families, and visitors, maintaining the confidentiality of residents/families in and outside of work setting.
  • Accepts supervision as required and seeks assistance as needed.
  • Performs assigned job-related tasks by attending work as scheduled, meeting annual 16 hours in-service requirement, complying with annual employee health assessments, complying with infection control, and complying with safe chemical management.
  • Associates must be physically present and awake in the home to provide for the health, safety, and well-being of the residents at all times (including meal breaks) during their shift. Staff must be available to hear and respond timely to residents’ calls or needs for help. When a meal break is interrupted by an emergency the associate will be allowed additional time for an uninterrupted break period.
  • Completes other tasks/duties as assigned by the Director or his/her designee.
