Basic Function:

Develop understanding of the international education field by working in key areas of the Center for Global Programs (CfGP): off-campus study, international student support and academic programs. Partner with key offices such as the the Center for Belonging and Inclusion, Lisska Center for Scholarly Engagement, the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration, and Residential Communities; build awareness of Global Programs and create opportunities to engage and build community with the international student population on campus; connect with student organizations, such as the Cross-Cultural Community (C3) groups, Global Learning Community, and First-Gen Network, to create globally focused programming and share CfGP opportunities; support the mission of the Center for Global Programs to develop appreciation of different cultures, perspectives, and world-views, cultivate culturally competent leaders, and support students in various global learning endeavors.

Essential Job Functions:


Advise students on study abroad, review applications, and assist with preparation and re-entry
Assist international students with cultural transitions and/or identifying campus resources related to their academic, personal, or financial wellbeing
Create promotional materials, including managing and creating content for social media platforms
Promote office events and deadlines in conjunction with the peer Global Ambassadors
Champion Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Antiracism (IDEA), ensuring the CfGP meets the needs of students historically underrepresented in US higher education, including students who are the first in their family to attend college in the US, students of color, and other intersectional identities
Present periodically to student organizations and other meetings/classes on the resources and opportunities that the CfGP provides to students with the outcome of increasing awareness and more students to study away from campus
Assist in the design, implementation and assessment of engaging campus events and activities that contribute to the cultivation of global political awareness and cross-cultural understanding
Assist in the development of programming for the Shaw Hall Global Learning Community (GLC)
Develop and foster collaborative partnerships that support cross-cultural programming, including but not limited to: academic departments, student organizations, the Lisska Center for Scholarly Engagement, the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration, the Center for Belonging and Inclusion, CLIC, and Residential Communities
Assist with planning and implementation of various orientation programs (June-O and International Student Arrival)

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from any field. Ability to accommodate extended work hours, including evening and weekend work hours. An interest and curiosity in cultural exchange, public diplomacy, international education, and working with and learning from people from around the world is required.

Preferred Qualifications:


Strong writing and communication skills, particularly with a variety of constituents (students, faculty, staff, external organizations)
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Experience with diversity and inclusion initiatives is preferred.
Social media experience is welcomed.
Interest in working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and ability to bring a flexible, open-minded, “no task is too small” mentality.

Physical Demands:

Limited to moving some office items, less than 10 lbs.
