McFarland Johnson, a 100% employee-owned, multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm seeks an experienced and highly skilled Resident Construction Inspectorto join our team for a long-term assignment on a taxiway rehabilitation project. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the first phase of a multi-year rehabilitation program.
As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on every phase of the construction process, ensuring compliance with quality control standards, and monitoring progress reports, schedules, and budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection, with expertise in airfield construction such as taxiways/runways and FAA specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Track, monitor, and report on every phase of the construction process, including general, civil, airfield lighting/signage, airfield pavement marking and drainage.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and project requirements.
- Conduct inspections of construction work to ensure adherence to quality control standards and project specifications.
- Monitor progress reports, schedules, and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of the project.
- Collaborate with project managers, project owner, engineers, contractors, and construction teams to address any issues or concerns.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, including any non-compliance issues and recommended corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, approvals, and certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Position requires full knowledge and adherence to QA standards, plans and specifications. Ability to maintain a daily job log with clear written communications.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate construction activities with the Airport owner and operations staff and represent MJ in a professional manner is a must.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of FAA specifications and testing requirement for airfield pavement (P-401), airfield electrical and earthwork.
Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent with minimum 10 years of experience in construction field required.
- In-depth knowledge of construction practices, techniques, FAA specifications, and regulations.
- Expertise in general, civil, airfield civil, and airfield electrical construction.
- Experience in Airport environment related to driving on an active airfield.
- NICET certification at Level III or IV or equivalent experience/certification is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation to job site location.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve construction-related issues.
This role will be assigned to a long-term, year-round taxiway rehabilitation Construction project in Northern Florida starting in April 2023 - October 2024. Additional phases of construction are anticipated through 2025. Comprehensive compensation package available.
