Job Description

TITLE: RESIDENT CARE ACTIVITIES AIDE

General Summary

Performs a variety of supportive tasks in providing programs of Occupational/Recreational and social interaction therapy for residents of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility. Supervision is direct, received from the Activity Director.

Typical Duties

1. From established procedures/guidelines and oral instruction, arranges service areas for designated service programs, setting out materials, arranging seating and equipment.

2. Transports residents from activity areas via wheelchair, monitors activities and assures continuous safety of the residents.

3. Regularly assists and encourages residents in activities such as ceramics, explaining processes, painting, turntable use, and detailing methods.

4. Prepares materials for resident use, cleaning greenware, setting up towels, rags, water cup, paints and brushes.

5. Orders, serves and provides refreshments during sessions.

6. Assists residents in games, parties, bingo, religious services and on field trips, transporting and overseeing. Passes reading materials and will run errands within the Facility as needed.

7. Cleans service areas at the close of each session, returning supplies and materials to storage locations. Delivers soiled materials to laundry.

8. In all activity, encourages residents in participation to improve physical and emotional well-being.

9. Regularly confers with and receives procedural instruction from the Activity Director. Alerts supervision promptly as to suspected illness/injury of a resident.

10. Will assist with special activity parties, setting tables, pricing materials and bazaars and so forth. Will encourage families in providing visitation and encouragement.

11. Operates cash register, movie equipment, and so forth. Will oversee any work study students as necessary.

12. Will lead small groups such as discussion groups, exercise groups, cooking groups, as necessary. Will participate program planning as necessary.

13. Will provide 1:1 activities, i.e., sensory stimulation, to residents on a daily basis. Residents to receive these activities will be determined by Patient Care team and Activity Director.

14. Staff will attend in-services as scheduled, including

A. Feeding

C. CPR

15. Accompanies residents on Activity Department outings.

16. Helps feed residents as assigned.

17. Participates in all Codes per facility policy.

18. Protect the privacy of Resident, Staff and Visitors.

19. Must be flexible with schedule, able to work every other weekend and occasional evenings when needed.

20. Input data to Electronic Health Record.

21. Assist in kitchen, housekeeping and activities as requested. Will regularly be assigned food serving and dishwashing.

22. Perform other duties as assigned.

* Will receive $0.85 per hours worked.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.25 per hour
