This is an opportunity for a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership and communication skills to fill the position of Resident Assistant Park Manager at Silver Springs State Park located in Ocala, Florida. Featuring one of the three largest springs in Florida, the 4,739.59-acre Park incorporated the 250-acre former attraction area around the main spring in 2013. Glass Bottom Boats, paddle craft rental, event facility rental, catering and other food service are handled through a concession agreement.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Park Manager, the Resident Assistant Park Manager supervises the park staff and participates in the management of the parks resources, facilities and public use under existing rules and operating policies to provide the proper levels of administration, resource management, visitor services, protection, and maintenance.
ADMINISTRATION – Implements and enforces all laws, rules, operating policies, lease agreements, and permits pertaining to this area. Provides employee selection training, supervision, and discipline. Administers the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and maintains good employee relations. Prepares budget requests, provides for effective expenditure of appropriations, supervises the collection of fees, is responsible for all facility and equipment inventories, and implements established policies for fiscal control and accountability. Prepares, implements, and controls the work scheduling and assignments for the staff.
VISITOR SERVICES – Implements and supervises the area’s interpretive programs. Meets the public, interprets the area’s resources, facilities, and services; resolves visitor complaints; and provides for good public relations.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – Implements and guides the resource management plan for the area including ecological burning, native species propagation, hydrology issues including water quality/quantity and erosion control, non-native plant and animal removal.
MAINTENANCE – Plans, implements, and controls the area’s maintenance program. Identifies maintenance needs and provides supervision and management of the staff to maintain the facilities and support equipment for efficient area operation.
PROTECTION – Ensures Park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical, and archaeological facilities and resources, and use thereof, for the enjoyment of the visitor.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: building maintenance and construction; park service management and operations; heavy equipment operation; maintenance and resource management techniques.
Knowledge of and experience in the use of computers and related software.
Skill in using a variety of hand tools, small engines, and power tools.
Ability to: supervise people; determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; prepare and maintain schedules and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Reside on Property
- Successful completion of background/fingerprinting check
