Duties and Responsibilities :- Supervises the professional development of Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants.
- Actively participates in the student conduct process.
- Liaises with administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Create and implement programs and activities for resident students that foster academic success, career exploration, wellness, diversity, community, leadership and professional development.
- Develop working relationships between residential life student groups and other student organizations, promoting collaboration.
- Create opportunities for leadership development for residents of the community.
- Actively participates in staff recruitment, selection, and training activities.
- Manages residence hall facility and occupancy issues, and campus critical incident response.
- Serves in an on-duty rotation, which includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Supports large-scale campus events.
- Project a high degree of visibility and availability to students and staff.
- Other duties, as needed.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum three years Residence Life experience (live-on) as para-professional and/or professional staff. Experience in a duty rotation required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities :- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and/or utilize schedules, records, reports, and forms to organize time, supervise staff, and manage a residence facility.
- Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications with residents, campus partners, and external partners across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious perspectives.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to customer service
- Competence in relational, interactive, and confrontational skills
Conditions of Employment :
12-month, live-in position
Participation in weekend, evening, some holiday duty rotation mandatory
Availabilty during black out periods (check-in, check-out, etc.)
Providing support for university and divisional events and initiatives
