Job Description
The Gas Storage Engineer position within the Reservoir Engineering department with have both reservoir engineering and integrity related responsibilities. The role will provide technical and functional expertise to effectively and efficiently maximize the deliverability and operability of Gas storage assets through detailed analysis, evaluation, monitoring, and remedial enhancement of existing reservoir, well, and ancillary facilities. This includes detailed analysis and prudent evaluation of existing reservoir, well, and related asset records and physical attributes for all assets based on codes, standards, and practices established by PHMSA, IDNR, the Company, and Industry.

- Maintain Risk Management Plan and Operating procedures for all gas storage assets.
- Conduct reservoir and well analyses of storage assets to predict, monitor, and manage storage field performance.
- Perform reservoir studies to track reservoir performance as compared to predicted performance in order to develop optimal schedules and forecasts of individual reservoir deliverability.
- Maintain and provide training, when necessary, on all operating and compliance procedures.
- Develop and evaluate technical procedures, mitigation measures, and remedial designs by interacting with staff and performing quality reviews to ensure routines meet PHMSA, State, and Company standards.
- Prepare detailed procedures and AFE cost estimates for rig workovers, routine well work, and logging activities.
- Participate in and prepare for regulatory audits.
- Design, utilize, and maintain analytical models for the optimization of facilities and project development.
- Provide engineering support in the development of long-term capital planning.
- Work with internal customers to ensure project adherence to applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Organize, plan, lead, and actively contribute to change management initiatives.
- Functional knowledge of CFR 192.12 and API RP 1171 as well as compliance related activities required to meet them.
- BA/BS in Engineering
- BA/BS in Petroleum or Geological Engineering
- 0 -9 exp in the areas of:
- underground Storage Engineering and operations, reservoir/production engineering in underground gas storage operations (Engineer I)
- Knowledge of underground storage regulations (ex. API RP 1171) policies, procedures, codes and standards.
- Masters/PhD in Engineering
- Project Management Professional Certification
- 3+ years underground Storage Engineering and operations, reservoir/production engineering in aquifer storage environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all underground storage regulations, policies, procedures, codes and standards.
- Experience in compliance and gas storage system operations.
- Reservoir/production engineering knowledge in aquifer storage environments.
- Experience with gas storage applications such as Petrel, Avocet, WellView, NeuroLog, PetroCode, Surfer, etc.
- Familiarity with relative and probabilistic risk models.
- Working knowledge of all applicable federal and state UGS regulations.
