Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Research Technician (temporary) position is available at the USF Health Heart Institute. The selected candidate is expected to be involved in projects in regulating cell pathways to treat cardiovascular diseases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
It is preferred that the candidate has worked previously as a laboratory assistant in biology, chemistry, or biomedical research.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with inventory, equipment repair arrangement, calibration of equipment, compliance. Ordering and receiving the research supplies, reconciling the receipts, laboratory maintenance, and support to PI. Understand and follow the USF EH&S compliance and other procedures.
- Work in Biological Safety Hood, using aseptic techniques, cell culture, cryo-freezing cells, using microscope, digital imaging, measurements using ImageJ and Fuji systems.
- Perform molecular and chemistry experiments.
- Cares for laboratory animals and genotyping.
- Perform animal experiments based on approved IACUC protocols.
- Ability to collect data and perform analysis.
