Role Summary
The In-Life Technician I will engage in basic animal husbandry functions and facility and equipment maintenance while supporting the larger operations team in completing studies in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner.
Role Responsibilities
- Handling laboratory animals.
- Animal husbandry, including but not limited, to cleaning, feeding, watering, and enrichment.
- Waste management and vivarium maintenance including monitoring temperature and humidity, recording water pressure, disposal of biohazardous materials and chemicals.
- Perform animal observations to monitor and assess animal health.
- Collect and record data both on paper and electronically in a laboratory management system in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Introduction to data review for GLP compliance
- Sample collection including, but not limited, to non-sterile scrub of collection sites, blood draws, and urine collections.
- Drug administration including eye drops, tablets, subcutaneous injections, intramuscular injections, and drug calculations.
- Basic anesthesia monitoring including intubating, extubating, and use of warming systems.
- Potential opportunities to be a secondary point technician on a study.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required. Undergraduate Degree in animal or life sciences preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months experience preferred.
- ALAT certification preferred.
- Good written and oral communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications.

Special Requirements
- This role works predominately in a laboratory setting. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
- Physical activity including lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending ladder without restriction.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts with short notice.

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
