Research Technician IIIWang Lab

Who we are:

The mission of the College of Human Ecology is to improve lives by exploring and shaping human connections to natural, social, and built environments. Through innovative collaborations and an interdisciplinary, applied approach, the College of Human Ecology addresses the complexity of the human experience. It is home to approximately 1000 undergraduates, 200 graduate students, 120 full-time faculty, and over 25,000 proud alumni.

The Wang Research Group, led by Dr. Yuhan Wang, PhD, in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, is actively seeking a dedicated full-time Research Technician. Our lab focuses on unraveling brain-body interactions that govern metabolic and physiological functions. We investigate the nervous system and its intricate connections with peripheral systems, focusing on food digestion, metabolism, and their implications for health conditions like obesity and diabetes. To support our mission, we employ cutting-edge imaging methods, including spatial transcriptomics and light-sheet microscopy, to establish a comprehensive framework for understanding neural circuits and their involvement in regulating bodily states. For details of our previous work, please visit here. The lab offers an inclusive and collaborative environment and exposure to diverse expertise and research areas within the Division.

What you will do:

As a Research Technician, you will:

  • Conduct research projects that involve tissue histology, animal handling, molecular biology, and microscopy imaging.
  • Be involved in data analysis using advanced machine learning and deep learning approaches.
  • Collaborate with others on scientific projects.
  • Participate in lab meetings, research-related discussions, and activities.
  • Stay updated on relevant scientific literature.

This is a one-year appointment with a possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory job performance and funding availability.

While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.

  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.
