As the Research Stores Retail Specialist you will aim to provide customer service, POS sales assistance, inventory, and administrative support for our research customers.You will be responsible for monitoring and managing inventory and replenishment levels. As a member of our team, you will also receive inventory and processing orders for shipping or delivery. You will also support administrative responsibilities related to requisitioning, PO management, and other supporting activities to ensure smooth operations.
Customer Service and Cashiering:
- Assists customers in the ordering and processing of Research Stores merchandise. Provides diverse audiences with technical information regarding the merchandise and services, utilizing practical experience, training and available print and electronic media resources; operates and maintains a Point of Sales (POS) system. Prepares and submits stock and customer special order items
Inventory Maintenance:
- Maintains adequate inventory levels and replenishment levels. Performed inventory cycle counts; documents inventory variances and works with staff to maintain inventory accuracy.
Shipping and Receiving:
- Receives hazardous and technical merchandise and verifies pricing and quantities received, enters data into Oracle database makes labels; prepares merchandise for delivery or shipping as requested; maintains sales presentations and work areas.
Operations and Billing:
- Maintains technical information, including Material Safety and Data Sheets (MSDS), Oracle and HOME (POS) databases and resource files; coordinates departmental and University fiscal accounting data entry functions; processes billing for inter-departmental purchases, processes invoices; provides general clerical support.
- One year of experience in retail sales including selling, cash register operation, general clerical work and/or financial record keeping (preference will be given for specialty store environment); OR
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Point-of-Sale (POS) systems or cashing; intermediate Excel; Working knowledge of email and the Internet.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AA, BS, BA in related Health, Medical, Science or Business with a Material Management emphasis.
- NAOSSM, Purchasing or Material Management professional organizations
Experience:
- Experience in retail sales including selling, register or POS operation, general clerical work and/or financial record keeping. The position is best suited for a person with experience in scientific stores
or scientific distribution. Ability to operate a computer to access the store’s registers, sales and inventory data

- Microsoft Office Suite & Oracle knowledge
The work schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Hazardous solvents and chemicals, laboratory animals and warehouse environment.

Pay Range: $22.5 - 26.48 per hour
