Job description
GENERAL SUMMARY Research Specialist in molecular oncology laboratory performs Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) molecular biology (genomics, epigenomics, transcriptome) assays, organizing data, RNA/DNA extraction, human sample handling, in vitro culture assays, developing molecular assays pertaining to circulating tumor cells and cell-free DNA, and other tasks as assigned by supervisor or department director. Experience in NGS is a must.

Caregivers are expected to honor the Mission, Values, Vision, and Promise and adhere to the Code of Conduct, policies and standards of their organization.For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.Perform general laboratory support duties.Learn, develop and run various NGS molecular assays.Record keeping and inventory.Literature search and organization.Assist senior scientists in research projects.Managing data.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:Attendance, punctuality and patient confidentiality.
Positive public relation image and working relationships.
Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence and certifications.
Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety programs, CPR, infection control and annual physical.
Participates in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:Attending and participating in department meetings.
Volunteering or accepting assignments for projects.
Mission, vision and team ground rules.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Fax, photocopy, and other administrative duties.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Must have basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to learn and follow new procedures for scientific assay techniques. Able to contribute as part of a team. Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and professional circumstances. Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) experience for at least 1 year.
