Position Summary
This position is a multidisciplinary engineering role that provides design, development, prototyping, and testing of electronic, robotic, and mechanical devices for use in biomechanics and STEM-related research and projects as part of our unique Machining and Prototype Core. The position requires a wide range of knowledge beyond a single discipline, with a unique combination of skills. The position requires highly specialized knowledge of industrial-grade machines, which requires specific training and expertise. Misuse of these machines may lead to severe injury.
This position oversees the calibration, maintenance, and installation of all shared equipment in the Machining and Prototyping Core. They will submit purchase requests related to operation to the MAPRO Director and/or Building Coordinator/Department Chair. They will ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and maintained, propose new equipment/services, as well as restock, order, and organize collection supplies.
This position with have direct supervision over MAPRO student workers and hourly staff. They will also provide direct supervision and training to faculty and over 60 graduate and undergraduate students within the Biomechanics Research Building regarding any MAPRO projects.
