Job Description Summary

As a crucial member of the Research & Scientific Affairs (SciAffairs) team in the Office of Science and Technology, the Research Programs and Operations Sr. Manager oversees and optimizes scientific research collaborations and processes. They also manage programs supporting the team's goal of advancing healthcare through collaborative Research and applied science with regional healthcare and academic experts.
The Research Operations Sr. Manager will be responsible for managing data associated with research operations, driving the development of dashboards and analytics to enhance visibility into research activities, and designing and executing special programs to support the strategic objectives of the team. In all activities, this role will follow LEAN principles and will coordinate with IT systems and databases while maintaining adherence to policies and procedures.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Programs may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead Research operations through implementation and daily management of tools, databases, operating mechanisms, and dashboards, including process improvement.

  • Responsible for standard reporting on research activity and output including tracking/reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and executive level dashboards.

  • Responsible for management of finance tracker ensuring budget targets are met; tracks and communicates accruals and payments with finance leaders.

  • Own and maintain Clinical Collaborations Review Process (CCRP).

  • Development of dashboards to track analytics and insights related to scientific collaboration with health care providers integrating with internal systems such as Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). Specifically develop/maintain CTMS dashboards for cross-business master agreements and care-area projects, region-supported research, and other GEHC entities that have specific needs (e.g., ELT, Legal, Compliance)

  • Government research grant administration and designing/developing support databases and systems (previous government grant experience not necessary).

  • Introduction and integration of new software to achieve program goals where relevant with the support of the digital technologies and IT teams.

  • Coordinate regular communications of special programs, team operations and accomplishments, and relevant team updates.

  • Work in a large matrixed organization supporting activities across the globe and all product lines and coordinating with multiple internal teams.

  • US Travel Requirement of <5% for working sessions and team meetings.

  • Remote position residing within the United States.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline relevant to the role (e.g., business analytics, program management, operations, data science/analytics, database management, operations, information systems, science, technology, etc.).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in data analytics and database management and Operations.

  • Experience in a MedTech, Med Device, or Healthcare Provider setting in which clinical Research and healthcare were central to the role.

  • Understanding/experience with Good Clinical Practices, global and regional research regulations, research processes, New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle and cross-functional interdependencies.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and analytical skills, with ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, prioritizing accordingly.

  • Detail oriented with proven ability to understand the big picture and prioritize, apply LEAN methods accordingly.

  • Team player with self-driven execution capabilities, ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience working with Salesforce CRM tools, Veeva, or equivalent.

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience working with Medical Affairs or a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) database.

  • Knowledge of institutional research practices, including research involving human subjects.

  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care.

  • Ability to build lasting cross-functional relationships, including strong influencing skills and developing a culture of acceptance, support, and accountability.

  • Ability to proactively identify, facilitate and drive complex data collection projects.

  • Knowledge of GE Healthcare tools and processes (SSP, AST, MWS, PRD, QMS, PPM).

  • Knowledge of US and/or European research grant mechanisms, regulations, and practices.

  • Change agent with energy, passion & enthusiasm to support change.

  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues.

  • Ability to learn/understand the needs of stakeholder teams and design/implement solutions.

  • Ability to inform and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
