What you'll do:
Are you a skilled Research and Development Leader? As an Associate Program Manager at SSL, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary based on the needs of our team and programs. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we provide to our customers, engineers, and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to lead next-generation programs, while also developing exceptional engineering talent. Our programs straddle the intersection of Radio Frequency Enabled Electronic Warfare and deliver capabilities like Cognitive/Machine Learning Electromagnetic Activities, Embedded Digital Signal Processing, Cyber/Electronics Solutions, Software Defined Radio Approaches, Military & Commercial Communication Protocols and now expanding our efforts in 5G and beyond technologies.
Typical responsibilities include the following: Program execution and project management for research and development efforts.
Internal research and development portfolio management.
Government and commercial proposal development and leadership.
Customer identification, outreach, technical shaping, and management.
Advanced technology planning and road-mapping.
Assist in the acquisition of new business by envisioning next generation technologies to future warfighter challenges.
As a first line manager, on a day-to-day basis you would be responsible for:
Managing technical planning, including cost and schedule for assigned science and research projects.
Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessments, work assignments, salary, and recognition / disciplinary actions. Involved in all aspects of functional, programmatic and technical coordination and execution of assigned programs. This includes managing content across multiple agile development teams and engaging with functional and program leadership regularly.
The FLM may also hold a technical, programmatic role, in addition to their other responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications
Strong track record of project leadership for research and development efforts; including budget, schedule, and technical performance responsibilities.
Excellent personnel management and team collaboration skills
Knowledge of US Department of Defense Science and Technology organizations, such as AFRL, ARL, DARPA, IARPA, NRL and ONR
Experience developing new and/or novel technologies for the US Government
Experience with spectrum related technologies such as Electronic Warfare, Photonics, Advanced Communications and Networking, and Radar Systems
Interest and/or involvement in STEM outreach activities
B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering or science field
Possessing a current Secret or Top-Secret level USG Security Clearance
Desired skills
Principal Investigator with US Department of Defense Science and Technology organizations, such as AFRL, ARL, DARPA, IARPA, NRL and ONR
Experience with fast-paced, agile software Development Programs
Prior Lead Systems Engineering/project engineering experience
Experience writing winning proposals for US Government research and Development Programs.
Experience executing and improving business processes including capital equipment funding, overhead budgeting, and staff planning.
Diverse set of project management skills including waterfall development, spiral development, agile development, and earned value management.
Current Top-Secret Clearance with an investigation within 6 years

Ability to work remotely
Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Colorado Pay Statement
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $105,000 - $201,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,700 - $227,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
