San Francisco Community Health Center (SFCHC) is seeking Research Associates to perform data collection with people experiencing homelessness in the Tenderloin Neighborhood of San Francisco. SFCHC is conducting a comprehensive needs assessment of the medical and subsistence needs of people experiencing homelessness. SFCHC needs candidates who are empathetic and have experience working with diverse communities, specifically with the people experiencing homelessness.
This is a temporary, part-time position (about 20 hours / week), with a 4-month term with possibility of extension.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct community-based street outreach to people experiencing homelessness in the Tenderloin Neighborhood of San Francisco
- Obtain informed consent and interview study participants in indoor and street settings
- Complete detailed electronic data forms
- Provide and maintain privacy and confidentiality of study participants
- Provide appropriate referrals for social and healthcare services in San Francisco
- Participate in meetings and quality control activities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
- At least 1 year experience working with diverse communities.
- Experience working with persons experiencing homelessness; knowledgeable and sensitive to unique challenges faced by the people experiencing homelessness.
- Knowledgeable of harm reduction principles
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, complete with booster shot(s) and able to show proof of vaccination.
- Up to date with vaccinations, especially seasonal flu shot vaccine.
- Proof of TB clearance (issued within the past 12 months).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in research or related fields; experience in conducting interviews, obtaining informed consent, maintaining confidentiality, knowledgeable of HIPAA or other privacy regulations
- Proficient in speaking Spanish
- Experience working at the Tenderloin Neighborhood of San Francisco
- Experience in community-based or community health settings
- Experience working with persons who use drugs; knowledgeable and sensitive to unique challenges faced by the people who use drugs
- Knowledgeable of San Francisco’s network of community-based organizations that provide services to people experiencing homelessness
- Experience in counseling
