We are seeking a Research Associate for the Protein Sciences group to propel our targeted protein stabilization efforts as we build world-class platform capabilities to discover small molecule DUBTACs. The Research Associate will be responsible for purifying and characterizing small molecule protein targets to support screening pipelines, biophysical studies and structural biology. The Research Associate will work closely with a Scientist within the group to achieve these goals. This newly created position is highly visible within the organization, to our scientific leadership team, and the Executive Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to work in a fast-paced, dynamic biotech environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare buffer solutions and E. coli culture media.
• Production and purification of recombinant proteins from E. coli cultures.
• Development of chromatography methods on an AKTA FPLC for protein purification.
• Characterization of purified protein using biochemical and biophysical methods as well as analytical assays.
• Aid in troubleshooting of protein purification protocols.
• Documentation of experiments and generation of records.
• Present experimental plans and results during regular meetings.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and manage/order supplies as needed.
• Other responsibilities may be required as projects develop.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related science with 1-3 years of work experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience working with recombinant protein expression and purification from bacterial cultures.
• Experience and knowledge of protein purification methods including IMAC, SEC, IEX, etc. Experience using an AKTA FPLC is highly desired.
• Experience with molecular cloning techniques including primer design, PCR, mutagenesis, Gibson assembly.
• Detail orientated; excellent communication skills; organized and works well in small groups.
• Ability to manage time and make contributions to multiple projects.
• Experience with quantitative and/or statistical analysis software is a plus (e.g. GraphPad Prism, Python, R, etc.)
• Experience with automation and high-throughput tools and robotic instrumentation is a plus.

Suggested salary range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 (Compensation and level will be commensurate with experience and expertise.)
