POSITION TITLE: Research Associate – Microbiology
POSITION DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Research Associate to assist in research and development of microbiome products. The position entails working with a dedicated group of experts in the fields of microbiome, neuroscience, and immunology to advance preclinical and clinical programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in wet-lab microbiology, is comfortable working independently or in a team, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. In addition to versatility within the laboratory setting, this role requires a high level of self-motivation, responsibility, and an ability to adapt quickly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Culture, isolate, and characterize anaerobic bacterial species from human specimens.
● Perform small and large-scale screens to support identification of promising assets.
● Design and execute experiments to optimize in-house technologies, with guidance from scientists.
● Isolate DNA and RNA from cells and animal tissues.
● Perform and analyze results from PCR, ELISA, and other standard laboratory assays.
● Conduct laboratory work and documentation according to SOPs and safety policies.
● Contribute to scientific discussions through reading of scientific literature.
QUALIFICATIONS
● A Bachelors or Masters in a biological science (Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or equivalent).
● At least two years of relevant experience in a research setting, preferably in microbiome research.
● Experience in handling anaerobic bacteria and analyzing microbiome-related datasets is preferred.
● A demonstrated ability to plan experiments, analyze data sets, interpret results, troubleshoot experiments, and present results.
● Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team.
● Openness to both give and provide feedback to support professional development of self and others.
● An exceptionally inquisitive and curious mind and a passion to transform microbiome research into solutions for those in need.
