seeks to hire a Research Associate I in Global Health research.
Description:
The Institute of Global Health and Development is pleased to announce an opening for a Research Associate I in Global Health research. Qualified candidates are invited to join a community that thrives on rigorous research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and supports the mission of knowledge advancing social justice. The SRA I will begin immediate engagement in an existing research project, where they will work to manage research projects, analyze data, develop scholarly articles and scientific presentations, and disseminate findings to advocates and policy makers domestically and internationally.
The RA I will support a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation coordinating a collaborative effort to estimate the costs of HIV service delivery using activity-based costing and management (ABC/M). ABC/M is a multi-country, multi-institutional collaborative which will provide the SRA I with an opportunity to network with diverse stakeholders and engage in a dynamic enterprise seeking to reshape service delivery that affects millions of individuals’ lives throughout sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. They will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of work on this topic, including facilitating the generation of patient-level data on costs and resource allocation for HIV testing, treatment and prevention and improving and disseminating methods for countries performing ABC/M. The RA I will have opportunities for academic publications in top-tier journals, along with the opportunity to collaborate with faculty.
Position Summary
The RA I will be responsible for managing data ad performing quantitative and qualitative analyses. They will contribute to report and manuscript writing. They will work with graduate research assistants that are assigned to the project.
Candidate Characteristics
We are seeking candidates who are committed to a career in Global Health systems delivery and economics, have an outstanding academic record. This is a master’s degree level position and applicants with master’s degrees in public health, epidemiology, economics, and public policy are particularly encouraged.
Desired competencies
  • Working knowledge of statistics and econometrics
  • Proficiency with STATA, R, or another coding language for statistical analysis and data manipulation, as well as proficiency with MS Excel
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and coordinate with remote team members
  • Self-motivated, organized, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Creative problem solver who welcomes new analytic challenges
  • Able to meet project deadlines
Compensation, worksite and travel
This is a full-time position that assumes a 35-hour work week. We offer flexible work hours but require participation in team meetings and meeting project deadlines.
