About the Role
What You Will Do
- Execute production processes on a daily basis
- Perform daily production processes according to established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) protocols
- Keep detailed records of activities via in-house LIMS and electronic lab notebook systems
- Communicate internally with Research Associates, Team Leads and other members of the team to monitor and push through the daily production schedule and assign tasks to ensure production timelines are met
- Ensure timely turnaround time of “Rush Orders”
- Participate in development and revisions of SOPs when required in order to ensure efficient delivery of high-quality results and products
- Collaborate with scientists and software product managers to adapt new workflows to drive continuous improvements and efficiencies within DNA services, demonstrating flexibility, creativity, and accountability.
- Provide training to junior staff members
- Work with the lab manager to maintain inventory of consumables for the DNA Production and Services Team to ensure materials are adequately stocked at all times
- Prepare molecular biology related stock solutions and media as required
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biochemistry or related scientific or technical field, or equivalent experience
Experience:
- At least 1+ years experience working in a Biotech, and preferably a production setting
- Experience purifying plasmid DNA from E. coli
- Experience in implementation and refinement of processes preferred
- Experience with laboratory automation systems preferred
- Experience with planning and executing PCR and cloning experiments helpful
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated competence in the execution of standard microbial culture and isolation techniques, and the execution of standard molecular biology techniques
- Practical knowledge of high-throughput biological processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to execute and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic startup environment
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Fast-paced environment with a high volume of work to be completed daily
- Daily repetitive motions and manual manipulation (electronic and manual pipetting)
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis
Compensation Range: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $60,000 and $80,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
