Description
The Research Associate is an entry-level full-time position within Analytic Focus' consulting group. At the direction of the project lead, the Research Associate contributes at all stages of our consulting engagements - research design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting. Research Associates are exposed to a wide array of case types and industries.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyzes large datasets using algorithms and statistical programming in Python, R, Stata, or similar statistical software.
- Performs basic and advanced statistical and econometric analyses.
- Prepares written reports to summarize methods, assumptions, and results of data analysis.
- Creates powerful charts and visuals summarizing outcomes of analyses.
- Reviewing and synthetizing a wide variety of documents to support research efforts and conclusions.
- Performs through research of academic/industry literature research to provide support for the application of methodologies.
- Develops presentations summarizing analyses and findings for internal team and clients.
- Interacts with clients as necessary to discuss project specifics, including data analysis and conclusions.
- Works independently or as a team member as needed.
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Finance, Ph.D. preferred.
- 1-3 years of data analytics experience (Ph.D. can replace this requirement).
- Strong programming skills with at least one software package (Stata, R, Python etc.) is required. Proficiency with multiple packages is a plus. Proficiency with SQL is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills - comfortable with public speaking, participating in group meetings and writing reports.
- Ability to confidently analyze data, discover trends, and apply results to assist clients in meeting specific business objectives.
- Ability to critically assess methodologies for the analysis of data.
- Ability to display data visually, creating powerful presentations which effectively demonstrate the value of analytic deliverables.
- Excellent-to-outstanding abilities in Microsoft Office, specifically: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
