Position Summary
A qualified individual is needed for a Research Assistant position with the Center for Obesity Prevention and Policy Research (COPPR) at the Brown School. COPPR works to prevent obesity and diabetes by improving the health of underserved populations through transdisciplinary research. Under the direction of a research coordinator, this position will be responsible for screening, obtaining consent, and enrolling study participants.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.

Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in the recruitment of study participants as identified in related protocol; contacts study participants to explain study, screens for eligibility and obtains informed consent of participants.
- Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation according to study protocol; interviews study subjects/schedules/follow-up.
- Collects data from study participants, performs basic evaluation and interpretation of collected data and prepares appropriate reports and documentation as necessary.
- Coordinates evaluation of research activities in close consultation with project coordinator.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by research team.
Working Conditions
- This position is able to work remotely. Hours are flexible and include occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in nutrition, public health, social work, Social Sciences, or other related field.
- Proficient computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work with multiple project teams at any given time.
- Ability to translate complex written information into simple terms.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Native or proficient Spanish speaker in order to engage fully with the patient population.
- Highly dependable and organized.
- Ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field.
- Two years of research/field experience.
