Essential Functions
- Make stocks of media, buffers, LB plates
- Make competent bacteria stocks
- Help others with cloning; Mini and midi preps
- Wash and autoclave bottles, autoclave media
- Maintain mammalian cell lines; plate cells for upcoming experiments
- Perform sensor screening assays
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess knowledge of cell biology and/or molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
Required Qualifications
- The successful candidate will major in Biology or Chemistry.
- Applicants do not need previous lab experience.
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- This position is a work-study job, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 year commitment expected
Working Environment
- Standard lab environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
- Clean & maintain lab equipment.
Benefits & Compensation
This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office. Students will be paid $18.50/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
