Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at several satellites and instructional sites throughout the Greater Boston area. Job Description:
The Research Assistant for the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning coordinates with various areas of the College to support student success pathways and programming at Bunker Hill Community College, with specific emphasis on equity of student outcomes. This includes evaluation and assessment for grant reporting, the collection & cleaning of data, and analysis of the findings. The Research Assistant collaborates with several campus groups to create and implement research strategies for grant-funded projects. Current projects include supporting the further development of guided pathways, reducing the high school and post-secondary disconnection, participant tracking, and evaluating student outcomes in early college and workforce and career readiness programs. As well as other projects.
The Research Assistant has strong communication and analysis skills to help various internal and external partners develop, improve, and sustain programming and evaluation efforts that serve our diverse student body.
Grant funding annually, currently through June 2024; employment beyond the expiration of grant funding would be pending the availability of funds.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supports the statistical analysis needs of grant-funded projects, which may include activities such as consultation on survey design, measurement, and participation strategies, analyzing and interpreting results from data analyses and cohort studies, facilitation and analysis of focus groups with various constituents, preparation and dissemination of related reports;
- Supports completion of reporting on student participation and outcomes connected to several grants;
- Supports the design, distribution, and analysis of college-level surveys and other related projects and provides timely and valuable feedback;
- Provides data analysis and reporting support as part of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness team;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral science, education, or other fields requiring critical thinking and analytical skills.
- At least one year of experience in an educational institution or working with state, federal, or private grants
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data
- Experience presenting complex findings in a clear and approachable manner
- Proven ability to work with a diverse population
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel and experience with survey tools such as Qualtrics and/or other qualitative tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience working with diverse students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Master's degree in social/behavioral sciences, education, or other fields
- Familiarity with large datasets and/or database systems and confidential data
- Familiarity with SPSS or similar statistical program
- At least two years of social research experience beyond coursework (preferably quantitative and qualitative research methods)
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $62,000.00-$70,000.00
