Emily’s Entourage is seeking a part-time Part-Time Research Assistant to assist in cystic fibrosis research for the final 10% of the community.
The Position
Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer Chandrabali Ghose, PhD, the Research Assistant will play a vital and impactful support role in amplifying CF research for the final 10%.
This position will assist with essential work in service of achieving our research goals, including 1.) conducting and managing research and development of scientific projects, 2.) developing productive working relationships with external institutions and partners. 3) communicating, in partnership with the CSO, research-related updates for a variety of stakeholders, including patients, families, donors, funders, etc. This position is part-time (15 hours/week)
The Research Assistant will join a core team of eight, comprised of two co-founders, a Chief Scientific Officer, Chief of Staff, Director of Operations, Director of Special Events and Fundraising, Development Assistant, Database Manager, and additional freelance support staff.

While the urgency of the organization is inspired by Emily’s advanced-stage disease, the work of Emily’s Entourage gives impetus to advances that can benefit not only patients with cystic fibrosis, but also millions of people with genetic diseases as well as those combating antibiotic-resistant infections for whom there are no existing treatments.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) with daily administrative tasks.
- Support with Emily’s Entourage’s grant portfolio, including project sourcing, applications, peer review, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation as well as liaising with grantees on all issues related to research and development (R&D).
- Assist with the writing and editing of scientific communications, which include press releases, blog posts, social media content, webinars, op-eds, publications, reports, grants applications, and other research-related fundraising, patient education, and advocacy materials.
- Support with the planning of special projects for Emily’s Entourage, including scientific symposia, the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference reception and kiosk, and Emily’s Entourage’s annual fundraising gala.
- Provide key support at scientific conferences, pitch competitions and biotech meetings intended to identify opportunities for funding and research. (Some travel may be required.)
- Assist with the development of research-related updates to a variety of stakeholders
- Perform regular literature reviews and briefs on relevant scientific topics to streamline information for Chief Scientific Officer.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required (MS, MD, or PhD)
- Strong scientific background; experience with or understanding of cystic fibrosis a plus
- Skilled problem solver with creative mind and demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills, including editorial skills, for a variety of audiences, including patients and families, donors, and funders
- Versatile professional with keen ability to both work independently and as a key member of a team

Compensation
This is a part-time role, hourly role — up to 15 hr a week/ $30-$40 hr (wage commensurate with experience)
