Description Renewables Junior Electrical Engineer

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a talented Junior Electrical Engineer for a full-time. Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of renewable energy project design which could include PV solar, BESS, wind, DER, and microgrid design projects. Responsibilities will include detailed design of low to high-voltage electrical distribution systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, electrical site plans, equipment general arrangement drawings, underground and aboveground raceway drawings and details, grounding drawings and details, site lighting fixture layout drawings and details, wiring diagrams, raceway and cable schedules, panel schedules, etc.  The position may also include performing design calculations per industry standards such as IEEE, NEC, NESC, etc., assisting senior engineers with QA/QC design checks, and assisting design engineers with design efforts to support renewable energy-related project designs.  Some travel should be expected.  This position will start out with the engineer working in the Boise POWER office but could advance to a hybrid work schedule once enough training has been completed for the engineer to work on their own.

Required Education/Experience:
  • 0-2 years of engineering or construction-related experience
  • BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited university, or in process
  • Ability to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks and take the initiative to learn new topics
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles, including an understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
  • Candidate is interested in consulting engineering and the renewable energy industry
  • Must have a strong command of the English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
 Desired Education/Experience:
  • Student membership in IEEE
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for the successful completion of tasks
  • Prior internship and/or related engineering or construction experience is a plus
  • EIT with the ability to obtain PE license when experience requirements are met
  • Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, ETAP etc. as well as Microsoft Word and Excel is beneficial
