About the Role

The Development Analyst primarily supports community engagement, workforce development and use case applications as part of ORPC's Development Team. The Development Analyst additionally supports market development strategies, environmental permitting, grant and report writing, and other tasks as needed. This role resides at the nexus of community engagement and market applications and therefore plays an important role in ORPC's development process and requires the ability to translate complex science and engineering topics to diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

Market Development

  • Market research:
    • Assist with identification and evaluation of market use cases including, but not limited to:
      • Electric vehicle charging
      • Critical infrastructure
      • Distributed energy/grid resilience
    • Collaborate with Business Development Manager to research and compile relevant industry publications regarding energy landscape, competition, and policy.
    • Collaborate with Business Development Manager to update and maintain market data related to demand, policy, and socio-economic factors in target markets.

Project Development

  • Stakeholder engagement:
    • Assist with stakeholder engagement and conference activities inclusive of in person or virtual presentations and community meetings.
    • Contribute to the development of Community Benefit Plans
  • Social and Economic Benefits
    • Inform approaches and delivery of actions to benefit communities where ORPC is engaged, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plans and workforce development opportunities.
  • Regulatory affairs support:
    • Assist with permit applications, regulatory reports, reviewing environmental data, etc.
    • Provide skilled technical writing assistance.

Other skills and responsibilities:

  • Assist with content development for project proposals, grant applications, or other endeavors
    involving site assessment work. Support completion of final deliverables for funded projects.
  • Present site information to Department of Energy, potential clients, internal ORPC staff, universities, project stakeholders, or other entities as appropriate.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental engineering, marine science, or similar degree.
  • Knowledge of the Renewable Energy market is a plus.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements surrounding Renewable Energy is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations, domestic and international.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Comfort working on boats or along shorelines in remote locations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment that is 50 pounds or less.
  • Travel required to domestic and international locations, including remote locations. Travel estimated to be less than 10%
