Job Description
We are looking to recruit personable, professional and reliable Security Officers to become an integral part of our team. The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within City Hall and its ancillary facilities. This position requires individuals who are fluent in English, possess excellent communication skills, and have a minimum of three years of experience in security, particularly in managing diverse crowds. Security Guards must exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and discretion at all times while enforcing property rules, policies, and safety regulations.
Shift:
Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm
Monday to Tuesday, 9:30am – 5:30pm
Wednesday, 11:45am – 7:00pm
Thursday to Sunday, 9:30am-5:30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate throughout public areas to maintain order and ensure the safety of materials, equipment, staff, and visitors.
- Check identification and clear individuals before allowing access to restricted areas such as elevators or offices.
- Prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas and intervene in any security breaches.
- Assist in ensuring the premises are vacated by all members of the public at the end of business hours.
- Provide accurate information and assistance to visitors or guests.
- Conduct regular surveys of facilities to identify security issues, hazardous conditions, or vandalism, and report them to appropriate personnel.
- Intercept and investigate activations of electronic security systems to determine the cause.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of security equipment and supplies.
- Keep detailed records of security incidents, key logs, staffing schedules, and security checklists.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents, notifying supervisors and preparing necessary reports.
- Enforce property rules, policies, and safety regulations while maintaining order with good judgment and discretion.
- Investigate unusual or unauthorized activity, notify law enforcement if necessary, and prepare related reports.
- Utilize nonviolent crisis intervention techniques to diplomatically confront unauthorized individuals and manage emergency situations.
- Remove unruly individuals from the premises and detain serious offenders for authorities as required.
- Effectively communicate with the public and City personnel to provide assistance and coordinate responses to emergencies.
- Notify supervisors of potential emergency conditions and incidents requiring attention.
- Maintain crowd control and prevent the formation of large crowds in public areas.
- Ensure personal appearance is neat and professional by wearing approved uniforms and being properly equipped at all times.
- Report to the designated location on time and remain on duty until the end of the shift or properly relieved.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a valid security guard license as stipulated by local regulations.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a security guard, preferably in environments with diverse crowds.
- Ability to perform assigned duties without posing a threat to the health and safety of others.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling security-related matters.
- Proficiency in using two-way radios or equivalent communication devices.
- Knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and emergency response techniques.
- Familiarity with nonviolent crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
- Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours as required.
