Primary Purpose
Ensure accuracy and integrity of SDGE's official electric system reliability database. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of reliability statistics to internal customers and CPUC. Provide timely responses to all internal and external requests for reliability data. Provide in-depth reliability studies and analyses as directed by Management. Establish corporate reliability goals and track progress throughout the year. Monitor regulatory and legislative developments for new reliability-related reporting requirements and initiate compliance actions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the audit of daily Transmission and Distribution forced outage records and associated data entry. Review all reliability work products (reports, data requests, and studies) before they are issued. Provide technical guidance for in-depth reliability studies and analyses. Propose and develop new reliability programs. Identify and implement process improvements and eliminate legacy processes that are no longer adding sufficient value.
  • Facilitate the Strategic Reliability Enhancement Team (SRET) and lead the ReliabilityOne yearly proposal. Guide SRET allocation of reliability capital budgets and other efforts directed at improving system reliability. Develop tools to support reliability project development by District Engineers and SRET. Communicate project approval criteria throughout Electric Operations. Facilitate director-level review of large, forced outage events.
  • Provide direct supervision of employees (Business Systems Analysts) including goal setting, regular feedback and support, and performance appraisals. Make work assignments in keeping with experience levels. Ensure adequate training and development for all employees. Develop backup for critical functions. Manage recruitment efforts to fill vacancies as needed. Ensure workplace safety. Provide leadership through group activities.
  • Oversee maintenance of locally supported database systems, and adaptation of systems and processes to changing technical environment. Ensure work-flow processes remain in compliance with CPUC and SDGE rules. Oversee the transfer of reliability data to other internal systems. Coordinate internal and external audits of reliability data.
  • Support regulatory proceedings (GRC, PBR, etc.) that involve reliability programs and data. Review proposed rules that would impact SDGE's reliability program. Coordinate and prepare regulatory and legal documents and response to data requests. Provide testimony in regulatory proceedings if necessary.
  • Coordinate or support EOC Staffing for the Electric Support role.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years - related experience is required. Must have a strong technical background in electric distribution.

  • Must have a working knowledge of electric distribution systems and equipment.
  • Must be an experienced project leader; able to organize, plan, control, coordinate, and effectively manage cross-functional assignments and projects.
  • Must have a working knowledge of utility and IT operations and associated work processes.
  • Must possess strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Must be able to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to persuade and influence those with divergent views to achieve a consensus.
  • Must have the ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Must possess initiative, decision-making skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Access database software.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of California is desirable (out of state license acceptable if reciprocal for California). An MBA and/or other professional certifications and advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience is highly desirable.
