About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position: This position is with the Office of Special Disability Programs. The Rehabilitation Associate I works under the supervision of the Social Services Program Coordinator to assist with the provision of service planning, authorizing for services, processing payroll, and coordinating with community resources. This also includes the maintenance of confidential case files, office management, typing and composing correspondence relative to the individuals being served.Manages office, including, but not limited to:• Acting as receptionist,• Manages office correspondence,• Creating weekly reports,• Office filing and file purging,• Schedule appointments,• Perform general clerical, statistical, administrative, and accounting duties.The Rehabilitation Associate I assists with casework, including, but not limited to: completing itineraries, calling, scheduling, and sending appointment letters for home visits with individuals on the programs; maintaining confidential case files, both hard copy, and electronically; completing appropriate intakes/referrals in the absence of the Social Services Program Coordinator; prepares required Medicaid and MDRS forms, etc.Conducts fingerprinting of potential Personal Care Attendants (PCA's). Compiles, verifies and processes PCA payroll. Authorizes for services timely.
What you'll need to be Successful: Good oral and written communications skills are required to be proficient in this position. Proficient computer skills are a must. Must be able to prioritize, and work to plan and provide timely services to those individuals being served. Looking for individuals who can multi-task, are very detailed oriented, analytical, and able to solve problems
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 0-2 years of related experience. Agency preferred qualifications:High School Diploma, and two (2) years of experience.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick LeaveFull-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
