Job Summary:The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture at the University of Kentucky seeks applications for the Executive Director of Regulatory Services. As a part of the Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station, the Division of Regulatory Services administers four state laws that regulate the distribution of feed, fertilizer, and seed as well as the marketing of raw milk. The Division of Regulatory Services also operates two service programs for testing seed and soil and enacts Memorandums of Understanding with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture for sampling and analysis of Agricultural Lime and the testing of hemp compliance samples for THC content. The Division maintains a liaison and conducts outreach education with regulated industries and federal/state regulatory agencies to minimize difficulties in interstate commerce while promoting a fair market for sale and distribution of monitored products. The Executive Director reports to the Associate Dean for Research/Director of the Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station. The position evaluates, plans, and budgets the activities of the division while overseeing a staff of approximately 50 professional, technical, and support personnel.
This position is also charged with identifying and creating an environment for potential growth and professional staff development. The Executive Director administers the statutory mandates through regulatory programs assigned to the division and coordinates overall division programs with other local, state, and federal programs. The Executive Director is expected to provide a high level of service to the regulated industries and citizens of Kentucky.
Successful candidate will have strong and demonstrated skills in leadership, written and oral communication, and budget management. Experience with an institution of higher education or a senior/tenured position in allied/regulated private business is desired.

Preferred Education/Experience:Doctorate degree in Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science, or related field with experience in interpretation and reporting of scientific data, regulatory functions, and administration. Experience with an institution of higher education or a senior/tenured position in allied/regulated private business is desired. Three years experience preferred.
