Overview
This position is for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist with NERC experience to be an integral part of TRCs Security and Emergency Management practice. You will be part of a trusted team responsible for supporting our utility sector clients and help them confirm and demonstrate compliance with the various requirements to ensure reliability of the electric grid (physical, operational, and cyber security focused). In this role you will participate in assessing existing documentation and programs, recommending additional measures to verify compliance, and advising when out of compliance with standards from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
TRC offices in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, West Coast, or Southeast are preferred, but other locations in the lower 48 states may be considered for this position. This position can be based primarily at your home, in one of over 120 TRC offices in the US or some hybrid approach.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in reviews of existing data sets to crosswalk available documents to demonstrate compliance with various NERC standards.
  • Have a general knowledge of the utility sector, standards, and practices.
  • Prepare documentation as part of a preaudit process to identify potential areas for improvement or changes in process to better align with regulatory needs.
  • Author reports, technical memos, presentations, and other deliverables
  • Interact with a diverse set of clients, including government agency personnel, public officials, utility, and nonprofit staff.
  • Travel throughout the U.S. (travel estimated at 5-10% of the year).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, science, accounting, business (or similar)
  • Detail orientated, and ability to organize data and documents
  • 4 or more years of experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Knowledge and experience with various NERC CIP Standards, including CIP, BAL, FAC, EOP, etc. and similar regulatory protocols
  • Ability to work as part of a team to assess Regulatory Compliance with various NERC standards
  • Ability to travel periodically to meet client and project needs
  • Ability to work in commercial and industrial settings and follow strict safety protocols
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to pass multiple detailed background checks (including criminal history) and drug screening
  • US Citizen, with current driver's license and ability to travel by air, bus, train, etc.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office tools, laptop computers, and/or related tools
  • The ability to occasionally walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, often in outdoor environments
  • Basic business acumen and the ability to understand and support client relationships
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. An inquisitive tendency, as well as the interest in protecting people and facilities from harm are also important qualities.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $100,000-$140,00. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range
USD $100,000.00 - USD $140,000.00 /Yr.
