Job Description
Russell Tobinis currently hiring a Development and Operations Engineer for an American software, hardware and services technology company in Sunnyvale, CA for a 6-month contract with a possible extension. This candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that products meet regulatory standards and certifications for global markets. The responsibilities will include working with certification bodies, local labs, and compliance agencies to obtain and renew certificates, writing test procedures, coordinating in-country testing, and maintaining technical files and compliance databases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the certification process for products, ensuring compliance with standards such as FCC, CE, E-Mark, UL, and type-approval certifications for regions including APAC, EMEA, NA, and LATAM.
- Communication with Certification Bodies: Establish and maintain effective communication with certification bodies and agencies to obtain certificate renewals and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Collaborate with compliance agencies and local labs to write test procedures, coordinate and prepare/configure samples for in-country testing as needed.
- Obtain official documents from factories, local representative agreements, authorization letters, and power of attorney signed by legal. Maintain technical files, test reports, country certificates, declaration of conformity, and update the compliance database.
- Coordinate with ME (Manufacturing Engineering) and Operations team to update product compliance labels with the appropriate country logos and approval numbers.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding and experience in testing products in accordance with FCC, IC, RED, EMCD, LVD, Machinery directives, and international type-approval certifications.
- Familiarity with EMC standards for automotive and agricultural machinery, such as CISPR 25, ISO 14982, and UNECE R10. Knowledge of product safety standards per EN 62368-1, FCC, and EN harmonized standards for wireless devices (Bluetooth, WiFi, LTE, UHF radio, GNSS receiver).
- Familiarity with lab equipment, including oscilloscope, function generator, network analyzer, and spectrum analyzer.
- Ability to travel locally (30 miles radius) to 3rd party EMC test labs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance.
- Organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Knowledge and experience with UNECE R10, CE (RED/EMCD), FCC, International certification (Global Market Access).
- Skills with Bluetooth and WiFi.
