Job Qualifications
Education: Hold a valid and current registered nurse (RN) license in Minnesota, obtained through an approved nursing program such as an ADN or BSN.
Certification: While not always required, obtaining the Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential from the NBCSN can be beneficial.
Experience: Prior nursing experience, especially in pediatric or community health settings, is preferred.
Licensure: Fulfill specific requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for School Nurse licensure, including background checks and immunization documentation.
Knowledge of School Health Services: Understand school health services, including common health conditions in school-aged children, immunization requirements, medication administration protocols, emergency response procedures, and effective communication with stakeholders.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators, providing health-related information, counseling, and collaboration.
