Prior Authorization Department Technician Job Description Summary:
Exciting opportunity with Lee Health! We are now hiring Pharmacy Technicians for LPG Prior Authorization Center to assist pharmacist with submission of Prior Authorization requests to help facilitate medication approval through insurance.
This will be done through communication with lee physician clinics and insurance companies.
Technicians will manage work queues Monday through Friday, to ensure Prior Authorizations are submitted within the company policy and timeline.
Submission of Prior Authorization will involve reviewing patients chart for disease states and labs associated with medication prescribed, drafting appeal letters, recommending covered alternatives, pending prescriptions for prescribers, and creating telephone encounters for documentation in patients charts.
This position has limited direct patient contact and no dispensing or preparation of any medications.
The goal of this department is to be a patient advocate to ensure medication approval in a timely manner to avoid any delay in patient treatment.
SummaryProvides advanced technician support to the Pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, distribution, and control of medications throughout the facility. Practices as a technician role model and assists in the orientation and training of department personnel as assigned. All job duties shall be performed in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulatory agency standards, professional practice standards, and policies and procedures of the health system/pharmacy department.
