Registered Nurse (Temporary Position)
This position is scheduled to conclude Q1 2026.

Who We Are:
HomewardBound of the Grand Valley (HBGV) is a 501(c)(3), independent nonprofit organization serving individuals experiencing homelessness in Mesa County. Operating two overnight shelters and one daytime unhoused Resource Center, HBGV is working toward the vision to eliminate the unwanted condition of homelessness in the Grand Valley. HBGV provides emergency shelter and meals for single adults, families, veterans, and individuals with pets who are experiencing homelessness. Guests at HBGV can access case management services and family navigation, as well as a variety of community resources for support. HBGV operates a Recovery Living and a Purposeful Work program to help guests gain valuable tools and skills to help on the path to becoming permanently housed.

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse facilitates a proactive partnership with patients and personalized management of health-related needs. The RN assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the clinical and operational functions of the Resource Center. The RN collaborates with the HBGV case managers as needed for resources for patients, to include transportation to outpatient or emergent care. The RN works closely with the team at the Pathways Family Wellness Center (PFWC) located at HBGV's shelter on 29 Road.

The RN reports to the nurse leader for clinical oversight and to the executive director of HBGV for operational, human resource, compensation, and leave requests. The RN works with the PFWC to ensure delivery of quality, cost-effective healthcare. The RN performs nursing care within his/her scope of practice and maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.

Essential Functions:
-Works with/learns electronic health information systems.
-Provides quality assurance of data capture and input into EHR.
-Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient’s health or the situation.
-Analyzes the assessment data to determine the actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
-Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient’s health or the situation.
-Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
-Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
-Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with any applicable legal or policy parameters or principles.
-Contributes to quality nursing practice.
-Practices ethically and in a manner congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion
principles.
-Models HBGV's mission, vision, and values.
-Collaborates with healthcare consumers, clinic staff, and other stakeholders in the conduct of nursing practice.
-Evaluates one’s own, other clinic staff, volunteers, collaborative partners, service providers, and others in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
-Utilizes appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.
-Seeks knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice and promotes futuristic thinking.
-Team oriented, collaborative with and supportive of other staff in performing their duties and responsibilities, “pitches-in” to fill temporary operational gaps, when needed.

Education, Training, and Experience:
-Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.
-Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Colorado.
-Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider status according to American Heart Association.
-Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
-Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
