Performs general medical assisting functions. Ascertains and records patients pain level, vita signs, height and weight. Assists with pain management treatments; prepares equipment for physician; admits and discharges patients from facility; initiates IV when necessary.
1. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
2. Actively participates in maintaining and/or improving quality improvement initiatives regarding Physician billing computer system and patient satisfaction survey.
3. Maintain high level of competence on Physician Billing computer system.
4. Takes active role in facilitation team approach to functions within the department which includes attending department meetings, actively participates as a team member in resolution of problems as they are identified and analyzes current procedures, brings suggestions for improvement to the attention of team members and supervisor for consideration.
5. Open and close office as required.
6. Assists in filing charts and retrieving charts in preparation for next day.
7. Assists in filing lab reports, etc.
8. Admits and discharges patients from facility.
9. Keeps exam rooms supplied and in order.
10. Orders medical supplies in a timely fashion.
11. Disposes of bio-hazardous waste and regular waste.
12. Checks patient's pain level, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature.
13. Ascertains patient's chief complaint and describes same in chart accurately and succinctly.
14. Records drug allergies and present medications.
15. Prepares patient and or equipment for provider prior to his/her entering room.
16. Answer telephone within three rings, prioritize calls and coordinate service within the answering service.
17. Assists with patient education re: diet, medications, etc.
18. Assists with physician, nurse practitioner, and/or physician assistant as directed.
19. Assists in capturing accurate patient demographic information.
20. Utilize computer system to schedule appointments and track referrals.
21. Accurately completes charge slip to include nurse related charges and diagnosis.
22. Actively participates in all quality improvement programs.
23. Assists physician in Treatment Room with injections, Accudose machine and C-arm fluoroscopy.
24. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
25. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
26. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standard of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external)
27. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
28. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
29. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
