Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Med-surg Adult
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Med-surg Adult will provide holistic care to adult patients in a medical-surgical setting. They will collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes, promote patient education, and strive for excellence in patient care. The RN will utilize their clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and compassionate demeanor to deliver exceptional healthcare services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and monitor adult patients' condition, including vital signs, symptoms, and changes in medical status.
2. Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and nursing protocols.
3. Perform various diagnostic tests and interpret results accurately.
4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement individualized patient care plans.
5. Monitor patients for any signs of complications, and promptly report findings to the physician.
6. Maintain accurate medical records and document all nursing interventions.
7. Educate patients and their families about post-procedure care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
8. Assist in surgical procedures, preoperative and postoperative care, wound management, and infection control.
9. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care.
10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
11. Respond to emergencies and provide immediate nursing care.
12. Stay updated with advances in medical-surgical nursing techniques and practices.
13. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
14. Conduct patient advocacy and act as a liaison between patients and their families.
15. Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional nursing standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing
4. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
5. Strong clinical knowledge and ability to assess and manage adult patients' condition
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Effective critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
8. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
9. Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) systems
10. Understanding of infection control practices and patient safety measures
