Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Cath Lab
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Cath Lab team. As an integral member of the healthcare team, you will assist in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiac conditions requiring catheterization interventions. Your primary role will involve providing safe and effective patient care during diagnostic and interventional Cath Lab procedures. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology, possess strong critical thinking skills, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in handling sensitive medical equipment and medication administration.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns they may have
- Assist the cardiologist in sterile field setup and providing the necessary supplies and equipment
- Monitor patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms during procedures, identifying any abnormalities or changes
- Administer IV medications accurately and safely, in adherence to established protocols
- Document procedure details accurately, including patient information, medications administered, and any complications or reactions observed
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive appropriate post-procedure care and education regarding their condition and any necessary follow-up appointments
- Maintain a clean and organized Cath Lab environment, ensuring equipment functionality and availability
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality and following infection control protocols
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid and current RN license in the state of [insert state]
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred, but Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) is accepted
- Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac Cath Lab, critical care, or related field
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proficient understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and cardiac diagnostic testing
- Ability to interpret EKGs and identify cardiac rhythm abnormalities
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families
